ABOUT STILL HERE
Born from grief.
Built for yours.
This is the part most people skip past. But if you’re here, you already know grief doesn’t work that way. You don’t skip past it. You carry it, every day, whether anyone else can see it or not.
My name is Ben. This is where Still Here started, and why it exists.
THE LOSS
I didn't plan on any of this.
I lost my sister. Then I lost my wife, killed in a car accident, in an instant, with no warning and no goodbye. Then I lost my father. Three losses that reshaped everything I thought I understood about life, about faith, and about what it means to keep going when part of you feels like it stayed behind.
Grief doesn’t ask permission. It doesn’t wait until you’re ready. It shows up, and then it stays, and you’re left figuring out how to live inside a life that suddenly looks nothing like the one you had.
I know what it’s like to sit in a quiet house and not know what to do with your hands. I know what it’s like to nod along in conversations while carrying something no one else in the room can see. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re supposed to be further along than you are.
WHAT HE FOUND WAS MISSING
Somewhere along the way, I started noticing something.
I began facilitating grief support groups, sitting in circles with people who were carrying losses of their own. It was good work, and it mattered. But I kept noticing the same pattern. The men in the room rarely spoke. They showed up, sat in the back, listened, and left without saying much of anything.
It wasn’t that they didn’t have anything to say. It’s that most grief spaces weren’t built with them in mind. Too clinical. Too structured. Too much sitting in a circle being asked to describe your feelings out loud to strangers in the first ten minutes.
Men grieve too. Often quietly, often alone, often while everyone around them assumes they’re fine because they’re still showing up to work and still functioning on the surface. I wanted to build something different. Something that felt more like a conversation on a porch than a session on a clipboard.
THE TURN TOWARD MINISTRY
So I became what I needed.
I trained and became a Certified Grief Mentor and Life Coach, not to add a title, but because I wanted to be equipped to actually help, in a way that was structured enough to be effective and human enough to be real.
Still Here grew out of that. It’s Christ-centered because my own faith is what carried me through the parts of this I couldn’t carry myself. It’s relational because grief was never meant to be processed alone in a waiting room. And it’s built for men first, though every grieving person is welcome here, because I’ve watched too many men white-knuckle their way through loss with no one ever asking if they were okay, and actually waiting for the honest answer.
WHAT STILL HERE IS NOW
What started as a handful of honest conversations has become something more.
Today, Still Here offers one-on-one grief mentoring, a men’s gathering called The Table, church and ministry partnerships, and resources for anyone trying to figure out how to keep living after loss changed everything.
None of it is clinical. None of it is a script. It’s mentoring built on lived experience, biblical hope, and the belief that you shouldn’t have to figure this out by yourself.
If you’re carrying something heavy
I built this for you.
You don’t have to have the right words. You don’t have to be ready to talk about all of it. You don’t have to pretend you’re doing better than you are.
You just have to be willing to stop carrying it alone.
Grief is heavier alone, and lighter carried together. That’s not a slogan to me. It’s the whole reason Still Here exists.
No commitment, just a conversation
The four things we never compromise on
Seen, not fixed
We come with presence, not solutions. Being known matters more than being healed quickly.
Honest faith
Lament and hope together. We don't wrap grief in easy answers or rush you past the hard questions.
Real community
Relationships heal, not programs. What you'll find here is honest, faithful, and free of performance.
No hurry
Grief has no timeline. We walk at your pace and never push you toward recovery.
These aren’t slogans. They’re how every conversation actually goes.
Grief held within something larger
Still Here is an openly Christian ministry, not in a way that excludes, but rooted in a God who Scripture describes as close to the brokenhearted.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
Psalm 34:18
Trained to walk well
Ben’s support is grounded in both lived experience and formal training — so you’re never just talking to someone who means well.
