FAQ
Questions are welcome here.
Grief rarely comes with instructions. If you’re wondering whether this is for you, or what to expect, here’s what men ask us most.
Getting Started
What is Still Here, exactly?
Still Here is a grief mentoring space for men — built around real conversation, not clinical treatment. It’s for anyone who has lost someone and isn’t sure how to carry it, especially when the usual places (church, friends, family) don’t quite know what to do with a grieving man.
Is this therapy or counseling?
No. We’re not a substitute for licensed therapy, and we won’t pretend to be. This is mentoring — one man walking alongside another through loss, grounded in faith and lived experience. If we sense you need clinical support alongside this, we’ll say so honestly and help you find it.
Who is this actually for?
Men navigating any kind of significant loss — a spouse, a parent, a child, a marriage, a career, an identity you used to recognize. If loss has left you feeling unmoored and quietly alone in it, you’re who we built this for.
Do I have to already know what I need?
Not at all. Most men start not knowing what to ask for. A first conversation with Ben is just that — a conversation, to see where you are and what kind of support might actually help.
The Program
What's the difference between the options you offer?
We offer three paths: the 8-Session Journey, a structured walk through grief over two months; Single Sessions, for a specific moment or decision you’re facing; and Extended & Custom Support, for longer or more complex situations. None is “more serious” than another — they just fit different seasons.
What actually happens in the 8-Session Journey?
It’s a paced, one-on-one walk through the stages men typically move through after loss — naming what happened, sitting with what’s underneath it, and rebuilding a sense of who you are now. Sessions build on each other, but there’s room to slow down if something needs more time.
Can I just book a single session first?
Yes. Many men start there. If it turns out you’d benefit from something longer, we’ll talk about it together — there’s no pressure to commit further than feels right.
What if my situation doesn't fit neatly into 8 sessions?
That’s exactly what Extended & Custom Support is for. Grief doesn’t run on a schedule, and some situations — a recent loss, layered losses, a long road ahead — need a longer or more flexible arrangement. We’ll build something that fits.
Are sessions one-on-one or group?
One-on-one. This is a personal, private space between you and Ben — not a group program.
Faith & Approach
Do I need to be religious to do this?
No. Faith is the foundation we work from, but you don’t need to share it to be welcome here. What matters is that you’re open to being honest about where you are.
Will you push a particular church or doctrine on me?
No. This isn’t affiliated with a single church or denomination, and it’s not an attempt to recruit you into one. Our faith shapes how we care for people — it isn’t the price of admission.
Why does this exist outside of a church program?
Because church programming and clinical counseling both serve real purposes, but neither is quite built for a man who needs both spiritual grounding and someone who’ll sit with the specifics of his loss, session after session. Still Here lives in that gap.
Practical Details
How much does this cost?
Pricing depends on which path fits you — reach out and Ben will walk you through the options plainly, no pressure attached.
Are sessions in-person or virtual?
Both are available. We’ll find whatever works given where you are and what feels most comfortable for you.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share with Ben stays between you, held with the same care and discretion you’d expect from any trusted mentor.
How do I get started?
Reach out through the contact page or give us a call. The first step is just a conversation — no forms to fill out, no commitment required.
